Frequently Asked Questions
(The ones everyone’s thinking but doesn’t always ask.)
So… what do you actually do?
We plan personalized vacations and road trips so you don’t have to live in a constant state of “just one more tab.” You tell us where you’re thinking of going and how you want the trip to feel. We handle the research, routing, logistics, and decision-making and turn it into a plan that’s clear, realistic, and enjoyable.
Do you book everything for us?
Nope—and that’s on purpose. We create the plan and provide recommendations; you make the bookings. This keeps you in control and avoids any awkward “why was my card charged?” moments.
How customized is this, really?
Very customized. We don’t use templates, copy-and-paste itineraries, or “this worked for someone once” plans. If you want slow mornings and scenic drives, great. If you want efficient days and full itineraries, also great. We plan around you, not AI or the internet’s opinion.
What if we change our minds halfway through?
Totally normal. You’ll review your itinerary and can request adjustments. Planning a trip is a conversation, not a final exam.
Could we plan this ourselves?
Of course. Most of our clients could. They just don’t want to spend nights comparing routes, second-guessing choices, or wondering if there was a better option three clicks ago.
How much work is required on our end?
Very little. We’ll ask thoughtful questions so we can plan well, but we promise not to assign homework or ask you to research anything.
Do you plan packed, go-go-go trips?
We can—if that’s your thing. Our default approach values balance, quality time, and enjoying the experience over sprinting through a checklist. Burnout is optional and not included unless requested.
Who is this a good fit for?
You’ll probably love working with us if you:
- Want a personalized plan without doing the research
- Value quality time and meaningful experiences
- Prefer thoughtful itineraries that feel doable
This may not be the best fit if you:
- Love planning every detail yourself
- Want minute-by-minute schedules with zero flexibility
- Want to take a cruise, visit Disney, or travel internationally
(We support your travel style. Even the intense ones.)
How far in advance should we reach out?
The sooner, the better—especially for popular destinations and busy seasons. That said, if your trip is coming up fast, reach out anyway. We’ll be honest about what’s possible.
What makes Open Road Travels different?
We care more about how your trip feels than how much you can cram into it. We plan with intention, experience, and a genuine focus on memory-making—not just checking boxes.
What’s next?
You reach out. We talk about your ideas. We take over the planning. You relax.

Revision Policy
Each package includes a set number of revision rounds. After you receive your itinerary, you’ll have the opportunity to review it and submit your feedback. A revision round covers consolidated updates to pacing, activities, dining selections, or overall flow based on that feedback.
Revision rounds are designed for refining the original plan — not rebuilding it. Changes to destination, trip length, or a significant shift in travel style (for example, from “quiet cabin weekend” to “high-energy city tour”) would require a new package.
Additional revision rounds may be added for a $30 flat fee. This keeps the process collaborative, structured, and prevents us from accidentally turning one trip into three.
